Day 2 of Vista, IIM Bangalore’s International Business summit presented by Cognizant witnessed future leaders of India coming together to celebrate the spirit of being Indi-genius in not just business but arts, science, politics and social issues.

The day started with an interactive session from Mr. Siddharth Roy Kapur, MD of Disney India. Mr. Kapur, himself a B-school graduate, talked on how to make international brands relevant in the Indian market. The session centered on marketing strategies adopted by Disney India to promote its image as a brand that provides entertainment for the entire family rather than just for kids. He kept the audience engaged throughout the session with some brilliant promotional videos shot by Disney India. The session ended on a high note with Mr. Kapur sharing a sneak peak of Disney’s three upcoming big Bollywood projects – ‘Jagga Jasoos’ , ‘Mohenjodaro’ and ‘Dangal’. At the end of the talk, people left the auditorium with the same warm fuzzy feeling they get after watching a Disney movie!

Bzzwings, IIM Bangalore’s biggest business plan contest conducted jointly by Entrepreneurship and Innovation Cell (EnI), Forum for Industrial Interaction (FII) and NS Raghavan Center for Entrepreneurial Learning (NSRCEL) that started during IIM B’s Annual Entrepreneurship Summit Eximius 2015 culminated after 3 months during Vista 2015. The Climber, a startup which promises to counsel high school students on various career paths and Medcync, an online medical startup were declared the winners of Bzzwings and they walked away with equity funding of upto a cool 10 lakh rupees each. In addition, The Climber and FSE, a startup aimed at bridging the skill gap in core engineering sectors won cash prizes of INR 40,000 and INR 20,000 respectively. Mr. Nandan Nilekani, the guest of honor for the event gave away  the prizes to the teams.

Bidwiser brought to life the thrill of bidding seen in the auction houses, stock markets and sports. The event saw players bidding to buy cities, players and celebrities for Indian Tennis League and create the highest brand value from a budget of Rs. 20 crores. There were strategic bidders playing against gut players and it had everything that was promised – noise, chaos and the inevitable adrenalin rush.

Strategy& and ICON, IIMB’s consulting club, organized a case study competition Trojan Horse to analyze the entry strategy for a foreign player in the Indian diary industry. The event saw more than 100 teams battling it out for prizes up to INR 1.25 lakhs. A very diverse group of participants racked their brains to come up with new opportunities, business ideas and methods of risk management.

Vikasana, the social service club of IIM B, organized Sparsh, an event challenging participants to come up with feasible solutions to globally expand the operations of Samarthanam, a trust for disabled people in India. Samarthanam aims to reach out to more than 100, 000 people by 2020. Participants presented ideas ranging from using the Indian BPO model to create jobs for disabled people to participating in e-commerce sites to increase visibility.

Make A Wish Tree is an initiative by Vikasana and Vista 2015, in association with partner NGOs Bosco and Snehasadan. The initiative aims to fulfill the wishes of underprivileged and differently abled children from these NGOs. Over the course of the last two days, 140 wishes have been fulfilled. The wishes have been directly collected from children and include sundry things from clothes and shoes to school bags. Students can fulfil any wish of their choice. These gifts will be procured by the Vikasana team and given to the child who had made the wish on October 8th as a part of the “Joy Of Giving Week” celebrations. The various other activities that will be held during Daan Utsav (Oct 2 – Oct 8) include Twaran, where participants run for a cause and One Day @ IIMB where non- IIMB students get an opportunity to experience, for one day, what it is like to be a student at one of the best B-schools in the country. Daan Utsav is a festival where the entire IIMB community contributes in their own small way to bring a smile on the lips of others.
