  • Aditya Birla Group Scholarship Interviews,2016

There are those rare moments in life when an email that lands in your mailbox can elicit a flurry of nervousness, excitement and unbridled joy. receiving that letter congratulating you for being amongst the top five at IIMB for the Aditya Birla Group (ABG) Scholarship programme is one such opportunity. ABG is certainly one of the best ways to have a conversation with some of the most interesting people out there (read, Rajat Gupta, Senior Partner, McKinsey & Co.; R.Sukumar, Editor, The Mint; Janmejaya Sinha,Asia-Pacific Chairman, The Boston Consulting Group, to name a few). But, more than that, the scholarship helps remind you constantly that you need to think beyond…

  • India Economic Seminar (2016): Day two

The second day of the India Economic Seminar 2016 organized by The Public Policy Club, IIMB, in association with Swarajya, featured eminent speakers on various economic and policy issues. It comprised of illuminating discussions with some of India’s leading scholars, economists, and policy experts on topics ranging from Infrastructure, Agriculture, Planning and Policymaking. The day began with Prof. V. Ramakrishnan’s lecture on ‘How to make Public Private Partnership (PPP) as a Method for Infrastructure Projects more effective? ’. He asserted that effectiveness of the private sector cannot happen if the government is inefficient. One of the major fallacies of PPP is that the private party bears the risk. In fact,…

  • India Economic Seminar 2016

It’s not often that one gets to be in a room with eminent economists who have a wide range of views on a subject that sounds alien to most. The Public Policy Club, IIMB, in association with Swarajya, organised a speaker series on some of the most pressing issues ranging from GST to the imperative of creating 100 million new jobs by 2022. Dr. Nageswaran started his session by debunking the much loved theory of “small is beautiful”. The central message he wanted to put across was that it was always better to under-promise and over-deliver. He suggested that the way forward for India was to devolve decision making power…

This cultural extravaganza, a tradition of IIMB, brings together the entire PGP1 batch to celebrate diversity, hard-work, excellence and culture.  The enthusiasm and team-work shown by the PGP1s was evident for all to see, and contributed to making the event a grand success. • The week that was Club Selections@B

Peeyush Agrawal, PGP 2015-17 “The Weekend is coming”, that was the buzz among the PGP1s in the first few days of July. It wasn’t the finale of game of thrones that will come over this weekend, nor was it the San Diego Comic-con weekend. It was the club selections weekend that, later took over most of the following week too. It all started with the clubs coming one by one trying to woo the PGP1s through their attractive presentations about what they do, what PGP1s will get if they join (and the most common thing promised was the freedom to run their own initiatives) and what all fun activities they…

  • Aarambh 2015- Inception, the IIMB Way

Aayush Agarwal, PGP 2015-17 I often wondered why people called IIMB as the place to ‘B’. But then, I had not seen an Aarambh before. Every year, Aarambh, as the name suggests, marks the beginning of the new academic year at IIMB. The cultural extravaganza is known to bring together all the students to celebrate culture, diversity, hard work and excellence. Aarambh 2015, held on 28th June, continued the tradition and welcomed its new batch of PGP1 students amidst lights, sound and much fanfare. The evening began with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony and quickly attained its grandeur of the ultimate cultural fiesta. The brightest minds of the country occupied…
