“Running the distance; For a cause, for a smile: life reckons”
A manifestation of this spirit reflects in the event “Twaran” : IIMB’s annual community run. The event as part of the Joy of Giving Week, the week of sharing happiness and lightening lives, aims to bring together everyone at IIMB to support ‘running’ but for a cause for society and humanity.
Twaran was launched in 2012 for the first time, as a community run, aimed at bringing all the people connected to our institute together. After the remarkable success of the past two years where we have seen an excellent participation from students, alumni, faculty, residents, mess and administration staff, we are all set to make Twaran bigger this time. The event is scheduled on 2nd October this year. An aura of energy and enthusiasm will lighten up the cool morning breeze of Bangalore when the enthusiasts put on their running shoes for the 5K and 10K run. This year, Twaran will also see alumni participation across other cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad.

The Indian Blind Cricket Team embarks on a journey to participate in the ODI World Cup for the Blind after a period of 8 years. Having won the T20 World Cup in 2012, the team is currently in the process of preparing for the world cup to be held in South Africa, this November. IIM-B has a close association with the team having hosted the team for their practice sessions in 2012 and is even hosting them for the national selections this year.
Twaran seeks support from the IIMB Community to show its solidarity and support to highlight that physical infirmities do not deter one’s determinations if the spirit for success is unflinching. Our protagonists in the form of Blind Cricket team will act as a source of inspiration for the millions of specially-abled friends. Let us contribute our part and run for the cause, the cause to brighten up the less acclaimed yet indispensible friends of our society.

We have tied up with Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled (http://www.samarthanam.org/[5]), a partner NGO, committed to the cause of bringing cheers to the differently abled. To run for the cause, a participant can pledge their support to the team and the proceeds thus collected will go towards sponsoring the Indian Blind Cricket team’s travel expenditure, as they look forward to participate in the world cup.
Let’s join our hands together and run for the cause!
