We bring to you the experiences of interns from Consulting, Finance, Marketing, General Management, Product Management, Operations and E-commerce roles to understand a bit more about their work life. I interned at the Investment Banking Division of Citibank.
Even though being a summer intern, I played the role of a full-time analyst. My responsibilities matched with an analyst and accountabilities tallied with associates. The timelines in a typical IB role are very demanding, and Citi was no different. However, the warmth and the help of the team helped me move mountains. Citi believes in an open-door policy and everyone including the MDs were easily approachable for any kind of guidance of help.
My work profile during interns had several assignments, diverse and challenging in nature. Every day seemed to be a new challenge which needed adaption and high commitment. Right from working on live deals, to the preparation of a financial model from a blank Excel file, making valuation decks for a sell-side mandate, working on sectoral updates; my internship had it all. I got to work on diverse sectors such as Oil & Gas, NBFCs, Banks, IT Healthcare and many others.
The internship was an amazing learning experience which will stay with me for a lifetime.
A piece of advice for all summer aspirants. When life puts you in tough situations, don’t ask “Why me”. Rather say “Try me”.
