Vista 2013 – The Indian cinematic icon

He is an actor, director, producer, distributor, writer, lyricist, singer, choreographer, social activist and a rationalist, all combined into one. He is Padma Shri Dr Kamal Haasan and he would be a Keynote speaker during Vista’13 at IIM Bangalore.

Kamal Haasan has won several Indian film awards, including three National Film Awards and numerous Southern Filmfare Awards, and is known for having starred in the most number of films submitted by India in contest for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. He is a prolific writer of fiction and non-fiction in Tamil and his published work is testament to his constant exploration of structure and form. He is also a student of Carnatic music, studying under musical maestro Dr. Balamuralikrishna. Throughout his life, he has never hesitated to state his opinions and encourage debate about topics that are socially relevant. He is a rationalist in thought and moderate in opinion and a humanist in philosophy. The need to be socially conscious is seen in the way his fan clubs have revamped themselves into entities that carry out charity and volunteer work.

Media Cell IIMB is the student run outreach and communication committee of IIM Bangalore dedicated to form the bridge within the student community and the outside world.
