The launch of IIM Bangalore’s annual business festival and one of the largest of its kind in India, Eximius ’13 was kick started by a humble effort in line with the underlying theme of Eximius- ‘Ideas on Action’. Entrepreneurship & Innovation Cell in collaboration with Vikasana, both student run committees at IIM Bangalore helped put this endeavor together and propel the need for social consciousness. The event was held on 03 July, 2013 at Veerabhadranagar Slum, Hosakerehalli, a village in south west Bangalore.

The event was marked by visiting the slum, interaction with the children there and distributing them stationery items like note books, pens, pencils etc. But its higher goal was a synchronization between Ideas on Action to actual action on the floor. Any business in the present globalised world requires a high level of social responsibility and responsiveness towards the problems of the society. The idea of launching Eximius with the slum visit not only gave a positive kick start to the event but also highlighted the importance of the virtue of being socially responsible for all those who are or aspire to be entrepreneurs.
