Youth for Seva is a platform that provides opportunities for youth to take active part in community development despite time constraints. The goal of YFS is to support schools, NGOs, government hospitals and other organizations in the social sector through providing volunteers. YFS has had over 5,000 volunteers in the past 5 years.

At YFS, volunteering is customized to the individual’s interests and time constraints. It has various modules for volunteering such as Weekend, Weekday, Vacation, Fellowship, Internship and Virtual Volunteering models.

In relation to the Teach to Transform initiative launched by Vikasana to facilitate voluntary teaching by IIMB students, YFS is one of our partner NGOs. The initiative has seen an overwhelming response from the IIMB community with over 200 students signing up for the program willing to make a difference through teaching. Vikasana and YFS plan to launch a Weekend Volunteering Model where students of IIM-Bangalore will visit slum areas nearby the campus and educate children. The activities to be undertaken are: educating children about basic computer skills, spoken English, environment conservation and awareness campaigns, human rights  activism, training on life support skills, social audits, health education etc.

YFS in association with Vikasana conducted a session to provide orientation for the same. Mr. Venkatesh Murthy – Founder of YFS, Mr. Sri Ram and Mr. Ajay conducted the orientation. The teaching initiative will start soon and will be an ongoing activity every weekend.
