BANGALORE: Around 126 companies offered internships to 377 students of IIM Bangalore’s batch of 2014.Companies from the financial sector absorbed 27% of the students, 22% acceptances came from management consulting sector, around 12% from IT industry.

The first-timers included Facebook, Accel Partners, Catamaran Ventures, Merck, Alshaya, EBay, GE, Sony, Shell, DuPont and Uninor. The usual firms who visited IIM B included The Blackstone Group, Goldman Sachs, The Royal Bank of Scotland Group, JP Morgan, Deutsche , Bank and HSBC.Barclays Capital, Citigroup, Nomura, Rothschild and Standard Chartered and Edelweiss.

AT. Kearney, Booz & Co., Deloitte S & O, Siemens Management Consulting, Alvarez & Marsal and Bain & Co were some of the representatives of the management industry. “This year we saw an increased demand for our students across sectors.Students were recruited for positions all over India and as many as 35 are expected to intern abroad, “said Sankarshan Basu, Chairperson, Office of Career Development Services, IIM Bangalore.

Around 5 students with more than 35 months of work experience opted out of the summer internship process.
