Prashant Gutch (PGP 2011-13) on his preparation for the IIMB interviews.

Woods are lovely and deep

The woods are lovely dark and deep

But I have promises to keep

And miles to go before I sleep

And miles to go before I sleep

These 4 lines are the closest to how I can sum up my experience post CAT. I took CAT in 2011 and was one of those lucky ones who scored well. I scored 99.99 percentile and stood 9th in India but I knew it very well that a seat at one of the 3 prestigious IIMs was by no means a surety.

Spastics Day at IIMB

Spastics Day

Every year Vikasana, the social initiatives club of IIM Bangalore, invites students from Spastics Society of Karnataka to spend a day with us on campus. The Spastics Society of Karnataka is a  Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) dedicated to the welfare of people with neuro-muscular and developmental Disabilities.  The Society provides a comprehensive package of diagnostic and intervention services to people with cerebral palsy, autism, mental retardation, multiple disabilities and learning disabilities.

This year too we had 30 students visiting our campus. Students of IIMB enthusiastically took part in the interaction. Through this program, the students of IIMB get an opportunity to interact and understand the issues faced by the students from the Spastic Society. The students from the Spastic Society in turn get to spend a fun filled day at the beautiful IIMB campus leaving everyone happy and content at the end of a day well spent. Games like musical chair, cricket, pass a ball were organised and few motivational videos were played for them. During the course of the day, the volunteers had formed close bonding with the children and when it was time for the children to go back, there was a silent tear in the eyes of many!

Irreverently yours, IIM Bangalore

Siddhartha Trivedi (PGP 2012-14) tries to clear out all misconceptions about life at IIMB

IIMB Campus - Siddharth

Undergraduate students across the nation know that the conclusion of the examination season is the perfect excuse to sit back, relax and not bother about books for the next couple of months. At IIM Bangalore, however, we believe an empty to-do list is the devil’s workshop. Mere mortals at IIMB cope with the piling load by crediting the only asset they have – hours earmarked for sleeping. I’m convinced that the next financial crisis will be caused by the vast amounts of sleep debt in our system.

Spoilt for Choice!!

Tamojit Tarit Roy (PGP 2012-14) tells you what you can expect here…

IIMB Campus - Tamojit

The chirping of birds is musical against the back-drop of the serene 100 acres of woods. The sun is beginning to radiate red hues into the early morning sky and the world outside the majestic gates of IIMB is beginning to shrug off the lethargy of a full night’s sleep when I finally call it a day!

Life at IIMB gives me the opportunity to savour and relish each minute of my day (and night)! While I used to while away time and indulge in sweet nothings there was many a moment when I regretted what I did (or perhaps didn’t do) with the time that I had. The situation is diametrically different here!

How about taking a look!?

Visually Challenged Cricket Team

Vikasana is proud to share some very unique news with you. We are facilitating the practice sessions for the (visually challenged) Indian cricket team in association with the Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled.  The team is using the IIMB cricket ground for a week in preparation for the T-20 World cup cricket tournament for the blind. Vikasana also facilitated practice in 2010, when the Indian blind cricket team travelled to England and won the series by 4-0 (Indian cricket team –  it’s time you took some pointers).
