Sourabh Kulkarni (PGP 2012-14) gives you an insight on how we celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi on campus

GaneshChaturthi

“India has two million gods and worships them all. In religion all other countries are paupers; India is the only millionaire”, says famous American writer, Mark Twain. Truly, we live in a land of festivals where vibrant colors, music and festivity make our country come alive throughout the year. And IIM Bangalore is no exception to this. Here, we celebrate all festivals with great rigor.

We celebrated the festival of ‘Ganesh Chaturthi’ with fervor and religious spirit this year at IIM Bangalore. ‘Pratisthapana’ marked the prelude to ‘Ganesh Chaturthi’ celebrations in the campus.  Amidst reverent thoughts, overwhelming festive gaiety and traditional rituals, we brought Ganapati Bappa to our new home, IIM Bangalore.

Joseph John (PGP 2012-14) relives his memories of Onam while on campus…

Onam

We all have some childhood memories that we cherish. There are rare moments from your school days which you fondly recall, some which cannot be relived. The daily dose of backyard cricket in the evenings, school annual days, summer vacations and visits to grandparents’ houses, the occasional foreign gifts from an uncle working in the Gulf, family get togethers when you crash on the floor with your cousins at night etc… are the  best pages in our diaries. For every Malayali, the festival of Onam evokes similar feelings, but in a much stronger manner.

War of Sections

Viveka Sra (PGP 2012-14) writes about the WAR between the sections!!

It was the week after Aarambh, the first year was reveling in the wonderful cultural commencement of the times to come, when the bugle of war split this community into A, B, C, D and E. Each of the sections, under the command of their CRs was ready to conquer the battlefield.

The first event called the ‘Ice Breaker’ conducted by the Sports Council managed to turn up the heat. The section teams which were a mix of PGP1 and PGP2 s, competed in Gulli-Cricket, Throwball, Tug-o-War and Volleyball. Section E emerged as the winner in this round. Networth unleashed the ‘Animal Spirits’ soon after and this financial face off which has had two rounds in the form of FinQ and The Pit has sections B and C tied at the top spot. This war is still unfinished and will see them fight for the financial top spot very soon. The other sections soon got a chance to avenge their defeat in ‘War of the Sections’ conducted by MASH. This one day extravaganza challenged the sections on marketing prices, advertisement strategies through events like Guess What, MAD Ads and Dumb C.

Aditya Agar (PGP 2012-14) on the Co-ed Hostels at IIM Bangalore

IIMB Hostels

Disclaimer:
It is with sheer ignorance and non-existent experience (yes, oxymoron-ism is in!) that I assume my target audience is comprised of starry-eyed CAT takers and the IIM-battle survivors. To the guys on campus still reading this: ’Aap dude/dudette hai!’

So we wake up one day and a very famous newspaper, in which we have about eight ‘page 3s’, has a front page story on a scandalous MMS in JNU, Delhi. An ‘administrator’ from the institute issues a statement which goes: “If college students of both sexes are made to share a hostel, all they would then do is make babies.”

The evolution of a perspective

Blesson Gregory (PGP 2012-14) on how his perspective of IIMB really changed..

IIMB Campus - Early Morning

The first time you lay your eyes upon the entrance of IIM Bangalore, it reminds you of the opulent gates of a palace; symbolizing the abode of a privileged few and thereby their segregation from the vast majority. The first time you enter the campus, you walk in with an air of conquest – the kind of narcissistic indulgence Napoleon may have harboured after his every victory.
